The Royal Conservatory Orchestra (RCO), widely regarded as an outstanding ensemble and one of the best training orchestras in North America, consists of instrumental students in the undergraduate and graduate programs of The Glenn Gould School. Graduates of the RCO have joined the ranks of the greatest orchestras in the world. The extraordinary artists of The Glenn Gould School vocal program and the Royal Conservatory Orchestra perform a chamber opera each fall in Mazzoleni Hall and a fully staged opera performance in Koerner Hall each spring.

Our master classes are open to members of the public and free of charge. You do not need to reserve seats. Master classes will resume in the fall of 2017. The Glenn Gould School faculty consists of leading performing artists who hold principal positions with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and other major orchestras, or who have had successful careers as soloists and chamber musicians. The faculty share a deep commitment to passing along their craft to students.

The ARC Ensemble is the Grammy-nominated ensemble-in-residence at The Royal Conservatory consisting of members of the Glenn Gould School faculty. The ensemble often includes Glenn Gould School alumni and current students in their concerts. To learn more, please visit the ARC Ensemble's website.

Since their inception in 1886, the programs and curriculum of The Royal Conservatory have helped to train many internationally acclaimed artists including: Oscar Peterson, Angela Hewitt, Richard Margison, Measha Brueggergosman, Martin Beaver, Mario Bernardi, Jon Vickers, Teresa Stratas, Gordon Lightfoot, Loreena McKennitt, Bruce Cockburn, David Foster, Diana Krall, and Sarah McLachlan.

A maximum enrollment of 130 students means that classes are small with a nurturing learning environment. Toronto, one of the safest major cities in the world, is also one of the most culturally diverse.
