Angela Schwarzkopf

Angela Schwarzkopf
Canadian native Angela Schwarzkopf performs regularly as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral harpist. The first harpist to receive a Doctorate of Music in harp performance in Canada, she has also served as President of the Toronto Chapter of the American Harp Society since 2012. In 2017, Angela will perform the double harp concerto The Passion of Angels by Canadian Composer Marjan Mozetich, with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.
 
In 2013 she shared the stage with Judy Loman in a joint recital in the Royal Conservatory of Music Faculty Series. She is also a founding member of the Topaz Duo along with flutist Kaili Maimets. Angela works regularly with many top choral and orchestral organizations, including the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, the Peterborough Symphony, the Talisker Players, and at the Stratford Festival, among others.
 
Angela is a course instructor at the University of Toronto, The Glenn Gould School of Music, and on faculty at the Young Artist’s Harp Seminar, in Georgia, U.S.A. She maintains a thriving studio of private students in Toronto. As a juror, she has adjudicated for the National Arts Center Orchestra Bursary Competition, the Kiwanis Music Festival, the University of Toronto, The Glenn Gould School, and at the Young Artist’s Harp Seminar. Angela completed her Bachelor of Music in harp performance from the University of Ottawa in 2007; her Master of Music in harp performance from the University of Toronto in 2009; and her Doctorate of Music in harp performance from the University of Toronto in 2015.
